Titus "HD" Rock Injector vs The Oslo Point

Extensive research was conducted in1989 by TROW and ASSOCIATES at 4 different sites across Northern Ontario. TITUS ROCK INJECTOR POINTS, TITUS STANDARD POINTS and the OSLO design point were driven into hard bed rock consisting of precambrian igneous and metamorphic lithologies, and were, in some cases, driven into extreme sloping rock up to 45 degrees. Column loads ranged from 120 tons to 450 tons. A total of 575 piles were driven of which approximately 3% were pulled at each test sites.

The Oslo Design

Channel welded to web of pile and split point welded to channel
The protruding case hardened tip upon reaching “Refusal” produced eccentric loading on the bearing pile
The case hardened tip, specified at 50-55 rockwell, proved to be extremely brittle and was subject to failure
The hardened tip experienced twisting, shearing and bending including bending of the supporting bracket
The Oslo Points did not seat and all were deflected off steeply sloping rock

Titus Rock Injector

The TITUS ROCK INJECTOR is all case hardened steel. At 78 lbs it is 3 times the mass and weight of the Oslo point.
The web and flanges are fully supported to distribute the load to the bearing pile.
The INJECTOR POINT is similar to a sharp rock drill which Is chipped into the rock face and firmly seats the bearing pile.
The TITUS ROCK INJECTOR seated firmly on all sloping rock up to 45 degrees. There was no shearing or bending.
The TITUS ROCK INJECTOR replace all the Oslo points and some of the Titus Standard points.
All the TITUS POINTS were driven to within 4% of plumb.
