ENDURA is the 21st Century solution to the more limited performance and wear life of traditional AR Steels such as AR400, AR450, AR500 and AR550.
Simply put – ENDURA is both easier to work with and lasts much longer than AR steels, typically lasting 100% or longer than steels such as AR400 and AR500.
Unlike AR400, AR450 and AR500, ENDURA is a Work Hardening Steel, work hardening from 450BHN to 560BHN. This means ENDURA is softer when you need it for Machining and processing, but gets harder and harder one you put it into your application. In other words, ENDURA acts like a softer steel when you want it softer, but gets harder and harder when you want it to resist wear and last a long time!
ENDURA is the only Oil Quenched Wear Steel in the World compared to AR Steels which are Water Quenched. The difference is that when you Oil Quench wear steel, the quenching process is much slower, more methodical and effective than the rapid ‘shock’ quenching of AR Steels. This creates a much more uniform and homogeneous Micro-Structure in ENDURA that makes it significantly more resistant to the Cracking, Chipping, Gouging that is experienced in heavy wear applications.
ENDURA is also a TRIP Steel with superior alloys and a much more homogeneous microstructure than AR400 and AR500, and this enables ENDURA to last significantly longer than those steels.
It does so in the following ways:
- It’s a Work Hardening Steel. This means it will work-hardens from 450BHN to 550BHN. So ENDURA is softer (less hard) when you need it to be for Forming, Machining, Drillings etc. but once it’s put into your application, it will Work-Harden to 550 BHN for maximum wear resistance.
- It’s a TRIP Steel. This means that unlike harder AR Steels, it can absorb impact without cracking / chipping / gouging – but still provide superior Wear Resistance. Most companies have to compromise using softer AR400 or AR450 in order to avoid cracking, but these steels wear out much faster. ENDURA is the “best of both worlds” because it avoids cracking like softer steels, but provides the superior wear life of a much harder steel!
- Oil Quenched ENDURA has a much more Homogeneous Microstructure than Water Quenched AR steels that just simply make it resist wear and last significantly longer then AR400, AR450, AR500 etc.
Unlike those more traditional Wear Steels, ENDURA employs a number of new and sophisticated measures to create both steel that’s easier to work with, as well as one that lasts significantly longer.
ENDURA last longer than traditional AR steels because it is resistant to both Abrasion as well as Impact. In other words, ENDURA is steel that is both Tough (Impact Resistant) and Hard (Abrasion Resistant) whereas AR steels are typically Hard but lacking in real Toughness which can make them much more brittle and prone to failures.
ENDURA is also a very unique steel in that it can be Formed / Machined / Welded like softer steel such as AR400… but once it goes into the application, it will wear like a much harder AR550 plate. This is the “Best of Both Worlds” in that you can manipulate and process it like softer steel, but get the Wear Life of a much Harder Steel. Typically very Hard Steels can’t easily be Formed or Machined, but not ENDURA!
It outperforms AR steels in applications such as Mining, Hard Rock Quarries, Recycling, Forestry, OEM Heavy Equipment such as Excavators, Crushers, Loaders, Conveyors.
In applications such as Screens, Grates and Punch Plates in mineral and hard rock processing, ENDURA can last more than 150%. That’s 400% longer than AR Steels like AR400 and AR500.
Anywhere AR400, AR450 and AR500 are being used and there is heavy wear like Impact and Abrasion, ENDURA will last significantly longer.
For companies who want to significantly Reduce Downtime while increasing Production and Profitability, ENDURA is the solution!
